Overview

Fitness Membership Platform is an online fitness hub built around short, focused training programs: mobility work, posture correction, strength, and conditioning. These programs are delivered as video courses under a paid membership.

We joined this project through a marketing agency that had already completed the branding and user experience work. They needed someone to build it – take a finished Figma wireframe and create an operational WordPress site without assembling an internal development team.

We acted as the technical partner behind the agency, not facing the client directly. Our task was to ensure the design worked in the browser and that the membership and payment systems functioned as required.

What We Started With

The agency provided us with a nearly complete package:

What remained undecided was how the site would function behind the scenes – how individual training programs would be structured and how membership access and payments would work. That was our challenge to solve.

/ 01 The Challenges

Fitness Membership Platform’s catalog comprises several products: Cross Core, Circus, Body, 9.99 Postural FIT, Combo, SkiBoardFIT, and personalized coaching. Each product needed a dedicated page, video, and description. The client also wanted the ability to add new products without calling a developer each time.

There was no ready-made plugin for this setup. We required a solution to maintain consistency across each program’s page – same fields, same layout, regardless of how many were added over time.

The larger issue was the membership. This wasn’t a simple “buy a product” store; it involved ongoing access to structured video training. This meant we needed one system for both membership and course delivery, not two separate plugins that might not integrate well.

Additionally, the client requested a free trial for new visitors so they could sample a course before subscribing, without exposing the rest of the paid catalog. Since the design and copy were already finalized by the agency, we had to strictly follow the wireframe throughout the build.

We started by focusing on the design, matching the agency’s wireframe closely. We adjusted the spacing between sections, image placement, and flow of the homepage. We built the front end in Elementor, our preferred page builder for this type of work. We ensured everything was responsive and looked good on all screen sizes, not just the one used for the wireframe.

For the programs, we created a Custom Post Type, paired with Advanced Custom Fields to allow for video, short and long descriptions, and program-specific details. This setup lets the client add new programs independently without needing a developer or rewriting templates. It simply integrates into the existing design.

For membership and payments, we used Tutor LMS as the main tool, treating each program as a course linked to membership status. This kept enrollment, gated content, and paid access in a single system rather than merging two separate plugins.

We also established a free trial process – a path that allows new visitors to register and sample a course, ensuring the top of the sales funnel remains open without exposing the paid catalog.

The checkout was set up to accept payment methods relevant to the client’s market, including card payments and local bank options. This way, members would not be dropped at checkout due to a lack of preferred payment options.

Beyond the core program pages, we created the blog and vlog structure the agency wanted for ongoing content, featuring categorized posts on mobility, motivation, and training tips – something for members to return to between workouts.

Why It's Relevant for Agencies

This is what it’s like to work with us: you take care of the brand, user experience, and client relations. We focus on the WordPress build, custom structure, and plugin setup that bring the design to life, not just making it look good in Figma. We typically choose Elementor for front-end work, but we can use whatever fits the project best.

We can step in at any point you need – whether you have a finished wireframe like this project or if you want us to get involved earlier to address technical issues. Regardless, we keep our work behind the scenes unless you prefer otherwise.
